Cardinal Gibbons Women’s Lacrosse Takes Fourth Consecutive State Title

For the fourth season in a row, Coach Tricia Alexander has led the WOMEN’S LACROSSE TEAM at CARDINAL GIBBONS HIGH SCHOOL in Raleigh to a state championship. The team boasted an overall record of 18- 3 and a conference record of 10-0.

Coach Tricia Alexander has led the Women’s Lacrosse Team at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh to a state championship.

Alexander credits the effort of her team, and also the support she receives from her assistants and the Cardinal Gibbons program.

“Shayna Bolton has been my assistant for each of the five years I have been at Gibbons,” Alexander says. “We were hired the same year and she is an incredible coach who runs our offense and the girls adore her. She played at Severna Park then at Louisville University. My other assistant is Kristi Marks, whom I hired four years ago. She is my local girl and played at Apex High School and Robert Morris University. She focuses on our defensive end and is a great coach that the girls love.”

Many of the girls on the team are taking their success from Cardinal Gibbons and moving on to the next level.

“This year we have girls going to play lacrosse at University of Virginia, Louisville University, East Carolina University, Villanova University,” Alexander says. “Others that are juniors are committed to San Diego State, Rollins College and Cornell University.

“Each year I feel blessed that our athletic department allows me to schedule out of state competition that continues to challenge our program, our athletes and build the competitive program that we are aiming to achieve,” Alexander says. “We are also lucky to have in-state competitive competition like Apex, East Chapel Hill, Charlotte Catholic and Myers Park.”
