Middle Creek High School Lacrosse Builds a Legacy

Over the past three years, the Middle Creek High School Mustangs have collected a record of 61-4, including a 43-game winning streak, a 4A state championship, 4A state runner up and 4A East runner up. During that entire stretch, none of the team’s four losses have been by more than two goals.

In 2018, the Mustangs were named North Carolina High School Athletic Association Academic Men’s Lacrosse Team of the year, with a varsity average GPA of 3.8 unweighted.

In 2019, with a record of 18-3, Middle Creek was South Wake Athletic Conference Champions. It is the third straight conference title for the team, which has not lost a conference game in three years. The SWAC is one of the state’s toughest lacrosse conferences. Middle Creek also was the 4A East
Runner Up.

Individual awards in 2019 included Jake Caputo, Graham Schwartz, Luke McDonald, David Baird and Ben Lever, who all were all awarded All-State honors. Tate Jones was the only freshman to earn all-region honors from the east side of the state, and Nathan Greenberg was awarded second team all-conference. Breyden Harrison, Owen Harrison, Chase Young, Lance Skelton and Christian Daniels all were given all-conference honorable mention.

Jake Caputo finished with 323 career points and was named an Under Armour All-American. He will play in the UA AA game in Maryland on ESPN at the end of June, a game that will feature the nation’s top high school players.

Graham Schwartz finished his career as North Carolina’s all-time face-off wins record holder. The four-year starter won over 900 face-offs during his career.
